About Us
We’re a husband-and-wife team — an orthopedic surgeon and a physical therapist — who believe in the power of movement and strength. Our journey began not in a lab, but in a military gym at Guantanamo Bay.
While stationed there for six months, I had little to do outside of work — so I trained. Twice a day. In my early 40s and determined to build my bench press back up, I realized how limited most equipment was for serious eccentric training. That’s when the idea for a better weight releaser took root.
Back home, I bought my first 3D printer. I sketched the initial concept in CAD during a middle-of-the-night spark of inspiration and printed the first version by morning. Needing a functional prototype, I was faced with a choice: pay someone to make it — or learn to make it myself.
That prototype kicked off a full-blown obsession with engineering and manufacturing. I started with a manual lathe and knee mill, then moved to a benchtop CNC mill. Frustrated by its limits, I upgraded to a 30-horsepower industrial milling machine, a prosumer CNC lathe, and eventually a twin-spindle lathe with live tooling. We also added an industrial CNC sewing machine for working with webbing and soft components. Prototypes were cut, stitched, machined, and tested using everything from a plasma cutter to the gym rack in our garage.
Today, Freemax Fitness is a family-owned and family-run business. Our kids have grown up watching ideas go from sketches to finished products — helping pack boxes, test gear, and occasionally sweeping the shop floor. This is more than a side project — it’s our passion, built together as a family from the ground up.
Our mission is simple: To deliver compact, adjustable, and innovative eccentric training tools for serious lifters and performance-minded athletes.
Welcome to Freemax Fitness — eccentric training, reimagined.
